Teresa Trotter
Hi, I am Teresa Trotter. I have lived in Sullivan County for over 30 years.

I have spent many years in the food service business having owned 2 restaurants in the Terre Haute area.

I started in food service at the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility six years ago. After the state privatized I became food service director for Aramark. At that time I witnessed many men whose lives in one way or another were destroyed by drugs.

In 2006 I left Aramark and became a jail officer for the Sullivan City/County Correctional Facility. There I have seen many people who would like to change their lives of drug or alcohol addiction but after release from jail they return to old places and friends and eventually to their old ways.

This is why it is so evident that there is a deep need for the programs and support that the Luke House can and will offer. All of us have an opportunity and responsibility to reclaim our community one life at a time .

 Joe Trotter

Hi, I'm Joe Trotter and I've been in Sullivan County my entire life, which some of my friends would say right after God invented dirt. After graduating from Sullivan High School I worked at the local post office as a sub city carrier for 4 years. The following 12 years found me trying to start a business while working full-time at Breed Power Plant.
My dream became a reality in 1977 when Trotter Sports Center became a full-time business.

I have 5 children, one son and 4 daughters and I thank God every day that we were able to get them raised without drug and alcohol problems.  Having done business with many families and in some cases 4 generations, I have seen the heartache suffered by good folks in dealing with these things by their loved ones.

This poblem is growing worse right here in Sullivan County. It's not a big-city problem, it's our problem and is destroying our community. If we are the Christians that we say we are then we all need to step forward and do what we can. This problem knows no boundary, it could be your family next.

Kerri McDonald

Hi, I am Kerri McDonald.  First and foremost, I am a passionate follower of Christ.  He is the love of my life and the foundation of who I am.  I am so blessed to have two sons that fill my life with joy, laughter, and purpose.  I am a member at Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Shelburn, and love serving the Lord as He leads me.  I work at the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office as an accountant and just feel so blessed to have a job to come to each day.

I firmly believe that people are not determined by their past or their present.  There is always a path for change.  In our own strength we can change for a period of time but usually return to our old ways.  But when we become dependant on the strength of the Lord, our lives can be totally transformed for a lifetime.

My mother was a nurse at an inpatient drug rehab for most of my growing up years and I saw the destruction that was caused by addiction.  I have a heart to see people realize the purpose that God had in mind when He created them and living life free from addiction is a huge part of that plan and purpose.

Jeremiah 29:11-14 says this, “11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you," declares the LORD, "and will bring you back from captivity.  I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you," declares the LORD, "and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile."

None of us were a mistake.  He had a plan and a purpose for each one of us and we can trust Him fully with our lives because His ways are perfect.  I would say to anyone struggling with addiction to let go of the control you think you have in your life and reach for God’s hand.  He can break the cycle you are in and make you a new creation in Christ.  He is the Healer of the sick, the Comforter to those in pain, the Restorer of broken, Hope to the hopeless, Freedom to those in bondage, and the Way to new life!

God is moving through the Luke House, so I am going to join Him in His work.  I am praying that others will join us as volunteers to break the cycle of addiction and that those who are addicted will find hope for a new future here!
